Protest against latest plan to test drill

This evening several members of Transition Llantwit as well as other concerned local groups and residents attended a very successful protest against a planning application to test drill for gas at Llandow by Coastal Oil and Gas.

The planning application was heard in Barry and a protest took place outside the Civic Offices this evening. Both BBC Wales News and ITV Wales News ran a story regarding the protest live at the beginning of their respective programmes which highlights the significance of the issues regarding test drilling.

It was great to see young and old alike attend and the community to pull together to show their opposition to plans to test drill for gas in the Vale of Glamorgan.

Although the planning application in the Vale Of Glamorgan is very important, we know all too well that a moratorium called by the UK government to look into safety concerns regarding hydraulic fracturing is the only true measure of our campaign being successful.

The planning committee decided that the application would be deferred until a site visit has taken place in October.
